[3:5]  1 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Eli) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[3:6]  2 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Eli) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[12:3]  3 tn Heb “anointed [one].”

[12:3]  4 tn The words “tell me” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[14:7]  5 tn Heb “in your heart.”

[14:7]  6 tn Heb “Look, I am with you, according to your heart.” See the note at 13:14.

[14:43]  7 tn Heb “Look, I, I will die.” Apparently Jonathan is acquiescing to his anticipated fate of death. However, the words may be taken as sarcastic (“Here I am about to die!”) or as a question, “Must I now die?” (cf. NAB, NIV, NCV, NLT).
